Neythen overall Championship Winner

Neythen Powell-Jones scooped three prestigious awards at this year’s Camborne Music Festival. No surprise to his fellow musicians in Bodmin Town Band, where he has played in the 2nd Euphonium seat for the last twelve months. At only 12 years of age, Neythen was awarded Best Brass, Most Promising Player and Overall Best Performer of the whole Festival!

Competition was strong with some excellent performances by other instrumentalists, solo and choral singers. Initially performing a selection of solos, Neythen was invited back to play in the Gala concert in Camborne on Saturday 16th November where he performed his winning piece entitled All Hallows Eve.

We would like to pass on our appreciation to the organisers and all participants in Camborne Music Festival and look forward to next year’s event.

Whilst Bodmin Town Band does not currently have a Youth Band, we welcome young players who demonstrate the commitment and maturity to play alongside adults. Neythen is joined in our ranks by Percussionist Thomas Arnold, aged 11 and Cornet player Elsie Crane, aged 12 and we are privileged to be able to watch their development.
