Remembrance 2024
Bodmin Town Band were once again privileged to lead the Remembrance Sunday Parade in Bodmin on 10th November. It was the first outing with the band for our new Musical Director, Gwilym Davies. The weather was perfect and it was wonderful to see so many lining the street.
The parade halted at St. Petroc’s Church where the service of remembrance was held. The band played Lux Aurumque (a contemplative piece composed by Eric Whitacre and arranged for Brass Band by Sandy Smith) during the period of reflection. Last Post and Reveille were played by Principal Cornet Grace Denford and the congregation filed out to a moving rendition of Hymn to the Fallen from the film ‘Saving Private Ryan’, composed by John Williams, transcribed for brass band by Philip Sparke.
Our thanks to all those involved in ensuring that the parade and service ran without a hitch and the band will soon be out and about carolling – and we can be heard again in St Petroc’s on 13th December for our annual Christmas Concert.
We also thank Paul Kenealy aka WelshPaul for his amazing photographs.
